Police Arrest DUI Suspect after Crash in Porterville that Seriously Injures One Person

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (March 31, 2023) – Juan Gonzalez-Cervantes was arrested in a DUI crash in Porterville Tuesday evening on March 28.
 
The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. in the 100 block of South Leggett Street. According to the Porterville Police Department, the 32-year-old suspect from Porterville was driving a vehicle when he crashed into another car.
 
As a result, one person in the other car suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
 
Officers said Gonzalez-Cervantes displayed the objective signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. Gonzalez-Cervantes completed field sobriety tests and provided a breath sample for chemical testing, which resulted in a .21 percent blood alcohol level.
 
Gonzalez-Cervantes was arrested and booked at the South County Detention Facility for driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in an injury. He is currently being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
