Car Crashes into Tree on River View Drive in Cottonwood Killing the Driver and Injuring the Passenger

 
COTTONWOOD, CA (March 31, 2021) – A driver was killed and her passenger was injured after a car accident in Cottonwood.
 
The accident happened on Tuesday, March 30, on River View Drive near Antelope Creek Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, 27-year-old Jovana Sanchez of Cottonwood was driving northbound at a high rate of speed. She turned abruptly when she lost control of the car and slammed into a tree.
 
The impact caused Sanchez fatal injuries. She died at the scene. She was not wearing her seat belt.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics took the passenger in the car, 26-year-old Scott Joyce of Cottonwood, to Mercy Medical Medical in an unknown condition.
 
Alcohol is suspected to be involved in the crash, according to CHP. Further investigation is underway.
