Driver Josue Vargas Dies Two Weeks after Head-On Crash on Mission Avenue near Frazee Road

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (March 3, 2021) – A 26-year-old man died Monday from injuries he suffered in a head-on accident earlier this month in Oceanside.
 
The accident happened around 2:10 p.m., February 9, on Mission Avenue near Frazee Road.
 
According to the county Medical Examiner’s Office, Josue Vargas, who lived in Oceanside, was driving east on Mission Avenue when he veered into oncoming traffic. He then collided head-on with another vehicle.
 
Vargas was airlifted to a hospital and, on Monday, died of internal blunt force injuries.
 
Police said another person was also flown to a hospital after the crash, but an update on that person’s condition was not available Thursday.
 
This fatal accident remains under investigation.
