16-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Placerville

 
PLACERVILLE, CA (June 7, 2023) – Josiah Stayner was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Placerville early Monday morning on June 5.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:00 a.m. on westbound Highway 50 just past El Dorado Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 16-year-old boy was struck by a car while he was walking in the area.
 
After striking him, the driver of the car took off without rendering aid.
 
Stayner suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a white Honda Accord of model year 2018 to 2022. One of its mirrors may have fallen off at the scene.
 
An investigation into this fatality is underway.
