Joshua Furister Arrested, Three Injured after Minivan Collision on Jamacha Road

EL CAJON, CA (March 1, 2021) — Officials arrested 34-year-old Joshua Furister after a car accident at 10:52 a.m. on Sunday, February 28.

According to Sgt. Brian Jenkins of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, officers tried to stop Furister, who drove a green Geo Metro for a traffic violation. He did not yield and quickly sped westbound on Highway 94.

The vehicle started to pass other cars across the double yellow lines and moved into oncoming traffic, Jenkins said. The police chase then ended up into the Rancho San Diego area.

As the driver of the Metro moved towards the intersection of Jamacha Road and Brabham Street, he drove through a red light. Then he crashed with a black minivan, Jenkins said.

The incident resulted in injuries to the single occupant of the minivan and both occupants of the Geo Metro. Medics rushed all three to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers will book Furister into custody after he is medically cleared from the hospital.

If an officer tries to stop you while you’re driving, pull over and comply with the authorities. Do not drive away and flee the area. By following traffic rules, you can prevent dangerous accidents.
