Joseph Gonzalez-Lederer Hit, Killed by Car in Cathedral City

 
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (November 9, 2021) – Joseph Gonzalez-Lederer died in a pedestrian accident in Cathedral City Sunday evening.
 
The accident happened around 7:40 p.m. on November 7, at East Palm Canyon Drive and Cree Road. According to the Cathedral City Police Department, Gonzalez-Lederer was walking at the intersection when a vehicle struck him.
 
When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying in the westbound lane with major injuries.
 
Responding firefighters provided medical assistance, but Gonzalez-Lederer succumbed to his injuries. He was a 61-year-old Sacramento resident.
 
Police did not release any description of the vehicle involved in the crash, and did not say whether they had any suspects.
 
The accident is under investigation and it is currently unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
