5 Freeway Crash near Hooker Creek Road Sends Joseph Dalessia and Elton Spain to Hospital
TEHAMA COUNTY, CA (July 29, 2021) – Joseph Dalessia and 45-year-old Elton James Spain of Burney sustained injuries in a traffic accident on 5 Freeway outside of Cottonwood Tuesday evening.
The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. on July 27, near Hooker Creek Road. CHP officials said Dalessia, a 56-year-old Corona man, was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram with Spain as his passenger. At the same time, 59-year-old Troy Lynn Tempest of Spanaway, Washington was driving a Kenworth semi truck and trailer in the same direction.
Dalessia was driving at an unsafe speed and collided with the rear of the trailer. After the crash, the Dodge continued to move forward until coming to a full stop down the road in the left lane.
As a result of the crash, both Dalessia and Spain suffered injuries. Paramedics took them to Mercy Medical Center for proper treatment.
It is unknown if Tempest was injured in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
