Fatal Wasco Semi-Truck Accident, Police Identify Jose Rosas Jr.

 
WASCO, CA (September 22, 2021) – A driver died in an accident with a semi-truck at the intersection of Wildwood Road and Sherwood Avenue on Friday, September 10.
 
Authorities identified 18-year-old Jose Juan Rosas Jr. from Wasco as the driver killed in the crash.
 
The accident happened around 7:10 a.m. just northwest of Wasco. According to the California Highway Patrol, the semi tractor-trailer hauling pistachios and a 2017 Mazda coupe collided. Rosas Jr. – driving the Mazda at about 70 mph – failed to slow down for slower traffic due to dusty conditions and struck the back of the trailer, according to CHP.
 
Paramedics immediately responded and declared Rosas Jr. dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the semi truck was not injured.
 
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the CHP. However, police are investigating the accident.
