Jorge Saenz Charged in Deadly Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Alisal Street and Eucalyptus Drive
SALINAS, CA (September 13, 2024) — Jorge Saenz faces charges following Wednesday’s fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Alisal Street near Eucalyptus Drive.
According to Salinas Police officers, the deadly hit-and-run happened around 8:32 p.m. Under unclear circumstances, 27-year-old Jorge Luis Lopez Saenz struck a man in front of Food Co. Subsequently, Saenz fled but was followed by a witness who took down his license plate.
Minutes later, Salinas Police responded to the crash and administered aid. However, the unresponsive victim passed away despite receiving life-saving measures.
With the witness’s help police tracked down the vehicle on North Sanborn Road and conducted a traffic stop. From there, Salinas Police arrested Saenz, booking him into the Monterey County Jail on vehicular manslaughter charges, unlicensed driving and hit-and-run causing death or injury.
