4 Dead, 6 Injured in Rio Vista Car Crash on Highway 12
RIO VISTA, CA (July 29, 2022) – Four people died in a head-on car accident on Highway 12 in Rio Vista on Wednesday, July 27.
Rio Vista Police Department identified the sole victim in a Chevrolet Suburban as Laura Poiret.
They also identified the three people who died inside a Honda Accord as driver 20-year-old Jordan Colvin of Vacaville, front passenger 19-year-old Erica Anderson of Vacaville, and rear passenger 19-year-old Lacey Conway.
The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. at Summerset Road and Church Road. According to the Rio Vista Police Department, Rio Vista Police say Colvin was driving a 2003 Honda Accord west when he veered off the road, overcorrected, and hit a Chevrolet Suburban going east.
Colvin and Conway were ejected from the car.
The seven people riding in the Chevrolet Suburban were all Mexican nationals on vacation in the U.S. One of the occupants, Poiret, was one of the fatal victims.
Six of her family members, including an 8-year-old girl, were injured and hospitalized in stable condition
Police had not yet made a DUI determination, but they found a significant number of alcoholic beverage containers in and around the Honda.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
