Jonathan Dillon-Ward Injured After Crashing Head-On into Another Vehicle on Highway 197 in Crescent City

 
CRESCENT CITY, CA (March 22, 2021) – Officials identified Jonathan Dillon-Ward and Lynette Alling as the victims of an accident on Highway 197 on March 17.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Charlie Drive around 5:30 PM.
 
Based on a report, 25-year-old Jonathan Dillon-Ward of Smith River was southbound in an Acura sedan at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he lost control and the car crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic. Subsequently, it crashed head-on into a northbound GMC pickup truck driven by 50-year-old Alling of Crescent City.
 
As a result, Dillon-Ward suffered major injuries and Alling suffered moderate injuries. Crews transported both victims to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment.
 
Officials said neither drug nor alcohol impairment appeared to be factors in the collision. However, the case remains under investigation by the CHP Crescent City Area Office this time.
