John Kim Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Cherry Avenue at 15th Street

 
LONG BEACH, CA (February 21, 2022)John Kim died in a pedestrian accident on Cherry Avenue at 15th Street on Sunday morning.
 
According to Long Beach Police, the fatal pedestrian crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. on January 27. For unknown reasons, the 58-year-old Long Beach man decided to cross Cherry Avenue against a “Don’t Walk” sign. Subsequently, a 32-year-old resident driving a 2007 Audi struck him on the road.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and brought Kim to the hospital where he died this past Sunday. As for the unidentified driver, that person stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators.
 
At this time, police have ruled out speed, impaired driving and distracted driving as possible contributors to the accident. However, if anyone has additional information, please call LBPD detectives at 562-570-7355.
