29-Year-Old Bicyclist Dead, Joe Farnsworth Involved in Grover Beach Fire Truck Accident on Trouville Avenue near 13th Street

 
GROVER BEACH, CA (July 28, 2022) – A 29-year-old Arroyo Grande man died in an accident involving a bicycle and a fire truck on Trouville Avenue near 13th Street, late Wednesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 27, at about 10:20 p.m. A westbound electric bicycle reportedly entered the intersection directly into the path of a northbound 2017 Pierce fire truck that was returning to the fire station.
 
The right front of the fire truck hit the left side of the electric bike, ejecting the cyclist onto the roadway.
 
39-year-old Joe Farnsworth and two other fire crew members rendered aid to the bicyclist. The victim was transported to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, where he later died.
 
Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
CHP, together with The Five Cities Fire Authority, continues to investigate the fatal accident.
