19-Year-Old JJ Malone and Sister Caylee Brown Fatally Struck by Car in Bakersfield, Lisa Core Arrested for DUI

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 13, 2021) – JJ Malone and Caylee Brown died in a DUI pedestrian crash in Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:16 p.m. on December 8 near South H Street. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Malone and his sister Caylee were standing on the corner of Panama and Hammond Way when a westbound sedan crossed the eastbound lanes and jumped the curb on the south side of Panama. It then struck the two victims and a tree.
 
Malone – a 19-year-old man – and Brown – a 10-year-old girl – both died at the scene.

The driver of the sedan, 46-year-old Lisa Core sustained minor to moderate injuries. Police later arrested Core for murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. They booked her into the Kern County Jail without bail.
 
Core was a previously convicted DUI driver, police said.
 
Further investigation is underway.
