Jim Fuentes Dies in Head-On Accident in Northwest Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (August 10, 2022) – A man died in a head-on accident on Fruit Avenue in northwest Fresno on Friday evening, July 29.
 
The Fresno County Coroner identified the victim as 57-year-old Jim Fuentes.
 
The accident happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. just south of Tenaya Way. According to the California Highway Patrol, Fuentes drove a Toyota Scion when he drifted into the path of a northbound Nissan Altima, driven by a 15-year-old boy from Fresno. The vehicles then collided head-on.
 
Fuentes, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, the CHP said. There was no immediate information available Monday about Fuentes’ home city.
 
The Scion driver was treated for minor injuries at a hospital. There were no other occupants in either car.
 
The CHP is still investigating the accident. However, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
