Arlene Ochoa and Jessica Hernandez Dies after Semi-Truck Flips onto SUV in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, CA (November 10, 2021) – Two people were killed in a semi truck accident on Avenue 7 near Road 31 in Madera County on Wednesday, November 3.

The Madera County Coroner’s office has recently identified the two decedents as 33-year-old Arlene Ochoa and 41-year-old Jessica Hernandez, both residents of Firebaugh.

According to the California Highway Patrol, around 4:00 p.m. the semi-truck pulling two trailers of pomegranates was traveling eastbound when it lost control and drifted onto the right shoulder. When the driver overcorrected, the back end of the trailer flipped over and landed on an SUV that was heading westbound.

As a result, both the driver and passenger – identified as Ochoa and Hernandez – in the SUV suffered fatal injuries. Both died at the scene. However, police did not state who was driving the SUV.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for funeral costs for Ochoa. It is unknown at this time if Hernandez has a fundraising account.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries.

It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.

We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of Arlene Ochoa and Jessica Hernandez.
