Jasleen Kaur and Infant Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Luchessi Drive
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (February 7, 2021) – Jasleen Kaur and her infant suffered injuries after a hit-and-run accident Sunday in the town of Vineyard.
The hit-and-run accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Luchessi Drive near Harney Way.
According to the CHP, the 36-year-old mother was walking with her infant, 8-month-old Surkhaab Singh, in a stroller on Luchessi Drive. As she tried to cross Harney Way, a silver or white Honda Odyssey van struck her.
The impact knocked the stroller on its side and ejected the infant into the street, investigators said.
The driver of the Odyssey then took off without rendering aid. Fortunately, a home surveillance camera captured the incident.
Arriving paramedics took both Jasleen and Surkhaab to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Both were back home recovering Monday.
Authorities asked anyone with information about the driver or the location of the vehicle to call the South Sacramento CHP Communication Center at 916-861-1300.
When you get involved in an accident, stay at the scene and immediately take safety measures. Call police and 911. Render aid if someone needs emergency medical attention while waiting for law enforcement and paramedics to arrive.
