Janet Hernandez Killed in DUI Accident on Mount Baldy Road [Claremont, CA]

DUI Crash in Claremont Kills 28-Year-Old Woman and Injures Two

 
CLAREMONT, CA (January 19, 2022) – Janet Hernandez died in a DUI accident in Claremont, late Monday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:30 p.m. on January 17 at Mount Baldy Road and Mountain Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old Los Angeles man was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry at an unsafe speed for rainy weather and roadway conditions. After that, the car veered to the right until it crashed into a dirt berm. The impact caused the Toyota to overturn and collide with the roadway.
 
Hernandez, who was the right-rear passenger and was not wearing her seat belt, died at the scene. She was a 28-year-old Ontario resident.
 
The driver and a 31-year-old man also from Los Angeles were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The driver was wearing his seatbelt but the other man was not.
 
Police later arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI causing injury or death and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. They booked him at the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station in lieu of $100,000 bail.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
