Broadside Crash on 118 Freeway near 405 Freeway Kills 20-Year-Old Janet Corona

 
MISSION HILLS, CA (April 4, 2022)Janet Corona was killed in a broadside accident on 118 Freeway in Mission Hills on Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:15 a.m. on April 1 near 405 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, Corona was driving a 2003 Toyota westbound on 118 Freeway when she lost control. As a result, the Toyota traveled across the median directly into the path of a 2014 Lexus.
 
The Lexus then broadsided the Toyota, seriously injuring Corona.
 
Paramedics arrived and rushed Corona to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where she later died. She was a 20-year-old Sylmar resident.
 
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Huntington Park woman driving the Lexus remained on scene. She sustained minor injuries.
 
Witnesses told officers that a white work van with cardboard blocking one rear window stopped on the shoulder. It may have caused Corona to lose control of her vehicle.
