Sonoma Man James Pendergast Dies in Highway 12 Pedestrian Crash

 
SONOMA, CA (March 26, 2021) – James Edwin Pendergast was hit and killed by a vehicle Monday morning in Sonoma.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened around 8:00 a.m., March 22, on Highway 12 near Verano Avenue.

Pendergast, an 85-year-old Sonoma resident, was trying to cross Highway 12 outside of a marked crosswalk when a vehicle struck him. As a result, he suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The vehicle, a white work van, sustained left front-end damage.

It is unknown if the drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.
