James Harrell Dies, Co-Pilot Injured in Truckee Plane Crash in Martis Valley

 
TRUCKEE, CA (June 18, 2021) — James Harrell died in a plane crash near Snowshoe Thompson Circle in Martis Valley late Tuesday morning.
 
According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the small airplane crash happened just after 10:45 a.m. For unknown reasons, the single-engine Cirrus SR20 crashed nose-down into an open field after departing from the Truckee Tahoe Airport.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and confirmed one of the pilots – 24-year-old James Duncan Harrell – had died in the accident.
 
Due to the second pilot’s injuries, paramedics rushed the victim to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
 
At this time, authorities have not ascertained the cause of the crash. However, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating this case further.
