Man Dies in 3-Vehicle Accident on Highway 180 at Olive Street

 
SANGER, CA (August 9, 2021) – Israel Lara died in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 180 in Sanger Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 2:20 p.m. on August 7, at the intersection with Olive Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 60-year-old man was driving a grey Ford Escort southbound on Oliver when he ran a stop sign and entered the westbound Highway 180.
 
A yellow Ford Econoline van traveling westbound on the highway swerved to avoid Lara and hit a white Hyundai Tucson. It then spun, overturned, and came to rest on the north shoulder.
 
The Tucson then struck the driver-side door of the Escort, causing Lara severe injuries.
 
Despite life-saving measures, Lara was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Occupants in the other two vehicles sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
 
It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
