Motorcyclist Dies after Struck by Red Light Runner in Downtown Chico, Pesiaune Finau Arrested

 
CHICO, CA (September 27, 2021) – Hunter Dixon was killed in a motorcycle accident in downtown Chico Sunday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 3:43 p.m. on September 26, at the intersection of 8th Street and Main Street. According to the Chico Police Department, 18-year-old Pesiaune Finau was driving westbound on 8th Street when he ran a red light and struck the 26-year-old victim who was riding his motorcycle.
 
Dixon suffered fatal injuries from the impact and died at the scene.
 
Police arrested Finau for vehicular manslaughter.
 
Finau also crashed into Hy-Fy Muffler in the area. The fire department had to reinforce the building after the crash took out two support beams.
 
Crews closed the intersection for almost six hours while they cleared the wreckage. An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
