Fatal Pedestrian Accident Reported on Highway 99 in Tulare

 
TULARE, CA (February 8, 2021) – A homeless man died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 on February 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Prosperity Avenue around 8:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, a 23-year-old Livingston woman was driving her 2013 Toyota sedan northbound on the highway. Behind her was a 2003 Honda SUV driven by a 52-year-old Kerman man. When both vehicles approached Prosperity, the victim ran across the lanes from the east of the highway. As a result, both vehicles struck the man.
 
As a result, the victim died in the incident. Officials did not yet release his name. However, they believe he lived in a nearby homeless encampment off the highway.
 
Both drivers remained on scene. Police do not suspect impairment to be factors in the crash. However, an investigation into this pedestrian accident on Highway 99 is ongoing.
