Holly Owen Hospitalized in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash on Ditmar Street at Cassidy Street

OCEANSIDE, CA (May 6, 2021)— Holly Owen suffered multiple injuries in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Ditmar Street at Cassidy Street Sunday night.

According to news reports, Owen had just left work and began riding her bike to see her son at his father’s home. However, just as she tried crossing a four-way stop sign at the intersection, a large black truck slammed into her.

As a result of the crash, Owen suffered several injuries, including two spinal fractures, three broken ribs, road rash and bruises. As for the driver, he or she fled the scene.

At this time, authorities need the public’s help to identify the driver and the vehicle involved. Police believe the car may be a Dodge RAM lifted pickup. If anyone has more information, please contact the Oceanside Police Department at 760-435-4900.

You cannot predict the actions of another driver, but you can play it safe. Only proceed if the roads are clear. Navigating roads with care makes a difference to your safety. If anyone would like to help Owen in her recovery, please refer to her GoFundMe page.
