NEWHALL, CA (August 1, 2022) — Heavy traffic followed a multi-car crash on the 5 Freeway near Wilton Canyon Road on Saturday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle accident happened around 12:00 p.m. The first crash happened under unclear circumstances and left a black SUV blocking the No. 3 lane. Nearly 45 minutes later, seven cars crashed and left a red pickup truck lying on its side and several cars with front- and rear-end damage.
 
Moments later, a tow truck responded to the scene to tow away several damaged vehicles. Meanwhile, officials placed a SigAlert for the No. 3, 4 and 5 lanes until 1:20 p.m.
 
Fortunately, no one reported any injuries. However, commuters did face traffic in the early afternoon.
