Gregory Wood and Alicia Escobar Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 99 [Sutter County, CA]

Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 near Oswald Road Kills 2 Drivers

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (April 30, 2023) – Gregory Allen Wood and Alicia Del Carmen Escobar died in a two-vehicle accident in Sutter County Wednesday evening on April 26.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:39 p.m. on Highway 99, just south of Oswald Road. According to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, Wood was driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma northbound on the highway when he crossed into the southbound lane. He then struck the left front of the 2016 Toyota RAV4 driven by Escobar.
 
As a result of the crash, both Wood and Escober died at the scene. Wood was 74 years old from Brentwood, while Escobar was a 69-year-old Yuba City resident.
 
There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
 
Both Escobar and Wood were wearing their seatbelts. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
