Good Samaritan Struck by Car on Varner Road in Thousand Palms
THOUSAND PALMS, CA (October 8, 2024) — A Good Samaritan was hit and injured by a car on Varner Road near Bob Hope Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian accident unfolded after 6:00 a.m. Monday. A woman in a Nissan pickup truck pulled over to help several crash victims involved in a head-on collision. However, as she tried checking on the occupants, an oncoming Chevrolet SUV struck her on the road.
Soon after, CHP officers and paramedics arrived and took her to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
Authorities investigating the crash learned that a Toyota Camry and a Nissan Frontier had collided head-on on Varner Road when the eastbound Frontier entered the westbound lanes to pass traffic. After that, the woman noticed the victims and attempted to help.
