Pedestrian Accident on Eastern Avenue in East LA Critically Injures Young Girl

 
EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (March 22, 2021) – A young girl was hospitalized in critical condition after a pedestrian accident on Eastern Avenue near 5th Street in East Los Angeles.
 
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17. Authorities said a Mitzubishi hit the child for an unknown reason. The impact caused the child severe injuries.
 
Firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were on scene giving the child CPR. The girl was then taken to County USC Hospital in life-threatening condition.
 
The male driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. CHP officials are still investigating the accident.
 
When approaching an intersection or a marked crosswalk, reduce your speed and look out for pedestrians crossing. Also, pay attention to traffic lights and road signs. Avoid distractions and always practice defensive driving.
