Three-Car Crash on 60 Freeway in Beaumont Kills 47-Year-Old Woman

BEAUMONT, CA (January 25, 2023)Gina Marie Herrera was killed in a three-car crash in Beaumont Friday evening on January 20.

The accident happened around 10:20 p.m. on 60 Freeway at Jack Rabbit Trail. According to the California Highway Patrol, Herrera was driving a Honda Civic westbound in the second lane of the freeway. At the same time, a 20-year-old Moreno Valley woman was driving a Cadillac CTS in the fast lane.

For unknown reasons, the two cars collided at the intersection. The impact propelled the Honda onto the eastbound side of the freeway. The Honda was then broadsided on the passenger side by a Kia Niro going eastbound in the first lane.

Herrera suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was 47 years old from Westminster, Colorado.

The driver of the Kia, a 44-year-old Palm Springs woman, sustained serious injuries. Firefighters took her to Riverside University Medical Center for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Cadillac was unharmed.

It is still unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, and officers have yet to confirm who was at fault.

An investigation is underway.
