Police Discover Transwoman Dead on South Hoover Street after Struck by Car
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 3, 2024) – Gerardo Medina-Garcia was fatally struck by a vehicle in the Vermont-Slauson area of Los Angeles on March 19.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the 5800 block of South Hoover Street and found Medina-Garcia dead at the scene.
Upon further investigation, detectives discovered that Garcia was struck by a light-colored sedan. The driver of the car reportedly dragged her body onto the pavement before getting back into the car and driving off.
Medina-Garcia was a 24-year-old trans woman by the name of Meraxes.
Around 1:30 p.m. Friday, officers located the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Los Angeles resident Bryan Blackmon in Hawthorne. They arrested him and took him into custody on $3 million bail.
A GoFundMe page for Medina-Garcia had generated over $1,800 for memorial funds.
