Gerardo Camarena Involved in Fatal Accident on 5 Freeway in Grapevine

 
GRAPEVINE, CA (April 8, 2021) – Police identified Gerardo Camarena as the truck driver who suffered injuries in a fatal accident on 5 Freeway on April 4.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Grapevine Road around 3:07 AM.
 
Based on a report, a man was driving a 2010 Nissan northbound on the freeway at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Then, he attempted to overtake Gerardo Camarena’s 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer. At that time, the man crashed into the back of the Freightliner.
 
As a result, the driver of the Nissan died in the incident. The Kern County Fire Department found the man unconscious in the driver seat. They later pronounced him dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner suffered minor injuries.
 
As of now, officials continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
