Woodland Man Driving Lawn Mower Dies after Car Hits Him in Yolo County

 
WOODLAND, CA (November 13, 2021) – Genaro Gonzalez died when a vehicle struck him he was while riding a lawn mower along a Yolo County rural road just west of Woodland.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, on County Road 97 south of Highway 16. According to the California Highway Patrol, Gonzalez was driving a Walker lawn mower northbound on County Road 97. At the same time, a 34-year-old Woodland woman was driving a 2003 Nissan north on the same road at an unknown speed.
 
For unknown reasons, the woman was unable to stop or slow down and hit Gonzalez.
 
The impact ejected Gonzalez onto the roadway. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 58-year-old Woodland resident, according to the Yolo County Coroner’s Office.
 
The woman driving the Nissan only sustained minor injuries.
 
Neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
