Man Sitting on Sidewalk Dies after Struck by DUI Hit-and-Run Driver in Orange

 
ORANGE, CA (July 26, 2022) – Gary Tripe was killed after he was struck by a DUI hit-and-run driver in Orange on Saturday evening, July 23.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:23 p.m. in the 100 block of North Feldner Road near Chapman Avenue. Police said 45-year-old Jose Antonio Cisneros Segura of Anaheim was driving a 1966 GMC pickup truck south when he lost control of his car and struck Tripe who was sitting on the sidewalk.
 
As a result, Tripe suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 64 years old and a transient.
 
Meanwhile, Segura fled the scene after the crash. Police later found him in the 200 block of North Donnybrook Street, displaying symptoms of intoxication.
 
Police arrested Segura on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, felony hit and run, felony DUI causing death and driving unlicensed.
