Galen Wallace Suffers Injuries in Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 70 near Rush Creek Road
OROVILLE, CA (February 3, 2021) – Authorities said 23-year-old Galen Wallace of Oroville suffered serious injuries after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon.
The crash happened Monday, January 18 just west of Rush Creek Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, 43-year-old Tanya Blust of Quincy was driving a black 2007 Ford F-150 truck eastbound at approximately 50 mph.
At the same time, Wallace was driving a white 2020 Ford Transit 350 van contracted by FedEx at an unknown speed. The two vehicles were approaching each other in a sharp curve.
CHP officials said Blust allowed her truck to drift over the centerline and enter the westbound lane just as the van was passing by. The truck collided head-on with the van, causing both vehicles to rotate counterclockwise.
Responding paramedics found Wallace unconscious and trapped inside the van. They airlifted him to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries.
Meanwhile, Blust was able to climb out the driver’s door through the broken window. She sustained minor injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
