Truck Driver Dies after Colliding with Several Vehicles near Ramona Expressway in San Jacinto

 
SAN JACINTO, CA (March 21, 2022) – Francisco Salgado and Steven Hutchinson died in a multi-vehicle accident in San Jacinto on Thursday night.
 
The accident happened around 6:20 p.m. on March 17 near Ramona Express Way and Warren Road. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Salgado was driving a truck hauling a small trailer. He was heading east on Ramona Expressway when traffic stopped in front of him. It prompted him to veer left onto westbound lanes to avoid hitting the stopped vehicles.
 
However, Salgado collided into a black Jeep Wrangler in front of him, a westbound Nissan Frontier and a westbound white Jeep Wrangler, driven by Hutchinson.
 
Responding firefighters extricated both Salgado and Hutchinson from the wrecakge. Paramedics then took them to hospitals for treatment.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, Salgado died that morning. He was an 88-year-old Nuevo resident, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
 
Hutchinson, a 67-year-old San Jacinto resident, was also pronounced dead Friday afternoon.
 
Meanwhile, the drivers of the black Wrangler and Frontier were not injured.
 
Authorities said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
