68-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Car on 40 Freeway in Needles

 
NEEDLES, CA (February 27, 2023) – Francisco Javier Acosta was killed in a pedestrian accident in Needles on February 19.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:42 p.m. on eastbound 40 Freeway near mile marker 145. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck Acosta who was walking on the freeway.
 
The impact caused Acosta fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was a 68 year-old resident of Havasu Lake.
 
It is unclear if the involved driver remained on scene after the crash. It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
