Pedestrian Fernando Gonzalez Hit, Killed by Vehicle in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (September 1, 2022)Fernando Gonzalez died in a pedestrian accident on Paramount Boulevard near Coolidge Street early Wednesday.
 
According to the authorities, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 4:49 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a driver in a BMW heading southbound on Paramount Boulevard struck a 64-year-old Long Beach man.
 
It appears Gonzales was in an unmarked crosswalk at the time of the accident. Responding authorities found him unresponsive and with life-threatening injuries.
 
However, Gonzalez succumbed to his major injuries.
 
At this time, investigators have not determined the leading cause of the crash or if the fault falls on the driver. However, Long Beach police officers have ruled out distracted driving, impairment and speeding as possible contributors.
