Vietnam War Veteran Felipe Nieto Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Barrio Logan, Suspect at Large

 
BARRIO LOGAN, CA (January 24, 2022)Felipe Nieto died 10 days after a he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Barrio Logan on January 2.
 
The fatal crash happened along Sampson Street and Logan Avenue, just two minutes away from Felipe’s home. According to the San Diego Police Department, Nieto was walking back home after grabbing breakfast from the Lucky Post market when a vehicle struck him.
 
After hitting the victim, the involved driver initially stopped, but eventually fled the scene.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and rushed Nieto to a hospital with a bran injury. Despite life-saving efforts, Nieto died 10 days later. He was 77 years old and a Vietnam war veteran.
 
At this time, the suspect remains at large.
 
San Diego Police are looking for a gray 2015 Chevrolet Malibu with an Arizona Temporary plate of U511847 with a male driver possibly in his 20s to 30s.
