Driver Dies, Car Split in Half after Jurupa Valley Two-Car Accident on 15 Freeway

 
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (January 26, 2021) — A two-car accident on 15 Freeway near 68th Street resulted in a single fatality Sunday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-car accident happened at approximately 10:50 p.m. On the southbound 15 Freeway, south of 68th Street, two Ford vehicles collided.
 
Per Officer Juan Quintero, a Ford Mustang was traveling in the No. 2 lane at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, a Ford F-350 truck traveling in the lane next to it traveled into the Mustang’s path.
 
Subsequently, the Mustang and Ford truck collided, causing the Mustang to veer out of control.
 
Detectives at the scene determined that the Mustang traveled in a southwesterly direction and onto a dirt embankment, where it crashed into a freeway sign. Due to the impact, the Mustang split in two.
 
As a result of the crash, the Mustang driver died at the scene while the truck driver dodged harm.
 
It remains unclear as to what drove the accident; however, the CHP plans to investigate this case at all angles. If anyone has more information on this crash, please call 951-637-8000.
