RICHMOND, CA (September 27, 2021) – Authorities confirmed a fatal BART accident at the Richmond Station on September 23.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near El Cerrito Del Norte Station around 7:40 AM.
 
Based on an initial report, one person intentionally entered and jumped onto the tracks. Subsequently, a train hit the victim.
 
As a result, the person died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the deceased’s identity pending kin notification.
 
Also, the incident forced the closure of the station and triggered delays for East Bay commuters.
 
At this point, no other details are available. In addition, an investigation into this BART accident on Richmond Station is ongoing.
