Head-On Accident on Hesperia Road Kills 62-Year-Old Woman

 
HESPERIA, CA (October 29, 2021) – EunHee Sims was killed in a head-on accident in Hesperia Tuesday evening.
 
The accident happened around 7:06 p.m. on October 26, on Hesperia Road, just north of Eucalyptus Street. According to the San Bernardino Fire Department, 62-year-old Joe Martinez of Colton was driving a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser when he turned to the southbound lane for an unknown reason. He then collided head-on with a 2008 Honda CRV, driven by Sims.
 
As a result, Sims died at the scene. She was a 62-year-old MacArthur resident. Loved ones of Sims set up a GoFundMe account for funeral expenses.
 
Meanwhile, Martinez was trapped and firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate him from the vehicle. He was transported by ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital and subsequently airlifted to a trauma center for treatment of unknown injuries.
 
Officers said Martinez was winding and seemed drunk prior to the crash.
 
Investigators are now trying to determine if drugs or alcohol were the cause of the conflict. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed a clash will be asked to contact Deputy Frankie Zavala at Hesperia Station or Sergeant Brendan Motley (760) 947-1500.
