Eugenio Paz Struck, Killed by Vehicle During Assault near Budlong Avenue and 109th Street

 
WESTMONT, CA (March 29, 2022) — Eugenio Paz with hit and killed by a car during a robbery near Budlong Avenue and 109th Street.
 
According to authorities, the deadly event happened in Westmont in South Los Angeles on Friday. Around 12:12 p.m., 52-year-old Paz brought his wife, daughter and grandchild to the area in hopes to purchase a car that he had seen advertised online. However, during the negotiation, an attempted robbery unfolded.
 
One of the three men struck him on the head with an unknown object, leaving him disoriented.
 
As Paz tried to flee the scene, he stumbled into the intersection, where an oncoming vehicle – believed to be unrelated to the incident – struck him.
 
Meanwhile, the three men left the area and Paz suffered fatal injuries, dying from blunt-force trauma in front of his family.
 
Following the event, officers investigated the assault and accident, later determining that the red Nissan Altima Paz attempted to purchase was stolen.
