Missing Teen Couple Found Dead in Crashed Car near Angeles Crest Highway

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 12, 2021)Ethan Manzano and his girlfriend Sophia Edwards were killed in a car accident in the Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles.

Officials of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have been on the hunt for Manzano and Edwards, both 19 years old from Apple Valley, since July 1. The teens were last seen driving a 2007 Isuzu Ascender near Angeles Crest Highway. They left a friend’s house around 1:30 a.m.

Edwards’ father Jeremy said the couple was planning to move to Colorado over the July 4 holiday weekend. Family members grew concerned when the teens did not show up to work on Friday.

Around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, authorities discovered the Ascender over the side of the road off the highway with two bodies inside. Coroner’s officials identified Manzano and Edwards as the deceased victims.

Investigators said the car may have accidentally driven off of the winding mountain road, which is surrounded by trees and not entirely protected by guardrails. It veered to the left, hit a dirt berm and overturned several times down the steep mountainside.
