Ernesto Garin Killed Semi-Truck Accident on South Walnut Avenue [Fresno, CA]

16-Year-Old Varsity Football Player Ernesto Garin Dead in Fresno Semi-Truck Accident

 
FRESNO, CA (August 31, 2021) — Officials identified Ernesto Garin as the teen who died in a semi-truck collision in Fresno on Thursday, August 26.
 
According to the CHP, the crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m. near the 5000 block of South Walnut, west of Easton.
 
Officers said that a commercial big rig moved north on Walnut. Then it entered the intersection into the path of the pickup moving westbound on Jefferson and both vehicles crashed.
 
According to officers, the pickup truck was pinned underneath the semi-truck. Fresno County Fire freed the driver of the pickup truck from the wreck. However, Garin, who was behind the wheel, did not survive the incident.
 
Garin who was a varsity football player at Washington Union High School went to practice Thursday. Then he attended team dinner, before heading home when the incident happened.
 
CHP said the driver of the big rig cooperated with them and was not injured. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
