Ernesto Avalos Arrested in Deadly DUI Accident on South Cooley Drive [Colton, CA]

Ernesto Avalos Faces Felony DUI Charges after Colton Crash Killing 5-Year-Old Daughter

 
COLTON, CA (April 14, 2021) – Ernesto Avalos was arrested for felony DUI charges after a deadly crash involving his 5-year-old daughter Sunday afternoon, April 11.
 
The crash happened around 2:25 p.m. in the 900 block of South Cooley Drive. Colton Police said Avalos is the father of Alexa Adalia Avalos who died in the tragic crash, as well as a young boy who was riding with them.
 
Avalos, a 28-year-old Twin Peaks resident, was driving a Toyota 4Runner when the SUV rolled over a raised center median and blew past a stop sign before slamming into a light pole.
 
The impact of the crash killed the defendant’s 5-year-old daughter who was in the car at the time. The other child was injured.
 
Police determined that Avalos had been under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred. They arrested him for murder, child endangerment and felony DUI.
 
Further investigation is underway.
