Authorities Identify Jose Zelaya and Erin Olsen Killed in Fresno Head-On Crash

 
FRESNO, CA (January 31, 2022) – Erin Olsen and Jose Ruiz Zelaya were killed in a head-on accident in Fresno County on Friday night.
 
The accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. near Belmont Avenue and Zediker Avenue. According to the CHP, Olsen was attempting to pass two other vehicles on Belmont Avenue in a white Toyota Camry when he crossed directly into the path of Zelaya who was driving a silver Toyota Corolla. The cars collided head-on.
 
The impact caused the Camry to overturn. Both Olsen and Zelaya died at the scene, accordign to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
Olsen was a 41-year-old Kingsburg resident, while Zelaya was 42 years old from Fresno.
 
CHP officials said alcohol may have been a factor in this fatal crash. Further investigation is underway.
