Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Tractor-Trailer on North Highland Springs Avenue near Sixth Street

 
BEAUMONT, CA (May 13, 2021)Eric Olson was killed after being struck by a big rig Tuesday afternoon in Beaumont.
 
The incident happened around 3:00 p.m. on May 11, in the 500 block of North Highland Springs Avenue near Sixth Street. According to the Beaumont Police Department, the 60-year-old Beaumont resident walked into southbound lanes just as the tractor-trailer was approaching. The driver had no time to swerve or brake before impact.
 
Olson sustained fatal injuries after the crash and died at the scene, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau.
 
The trucker was not injured, and no arrests were publicly announced.
 
The fatality forced the closure of Highland Springs Avenue for several hours Tuesday afternoon.
