Eric Granit Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash on 5 Freeway in Orange

 
ORANGE, CA (September 27, 2021) – Police arrested Eric Granit following a fatal motorcycle crash on 5 Freeway on September 21.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at The City Drive around 10:15 PM.
 
Based on an initial report, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling near the intersection prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it failed to stop at a red light. Subsequently, it collided with a Toyota SUV that was attempting to exit the freeway.
 
As a result, the motorcyclist died in the incident. Officials did not release the name of the victim pending kin notification.
 
The driver of the vehicle, Eric Paul Granit, 50, of Long Beach, remained at the scene. In the end, officers determined he had been driving under the influence. Then, they booked him at the Orange County Jail for vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
