Ephraim Estrada Dead, Jesus Lemus Detained in Modesto DUI Accident

 
MODESTO, CA (July 7, 2021)Ephraim Estrada died in a DUI hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Burney Street near 16th Street on Sunday.
 
According to the Modesto Police Department, the fatal incident happened around 11:00 p.m. For DUI-related reasons, 34-year-old Jesus Lemus struck 20-year-old Ephraim Joel Estrada as he was trying to light some fireworks.
 
Per witnesses, Lemus at the time had been traveling about 50 to 60 miles per hour with his 12-year-old in the car with him. Following the impact, Lemus left the scene only to inform authorities that he might have struck something prior.
 
As a result of the accident, Estrada sustained severe injuries and died at the scene of the crash.
 
Not long after, police arrested Lemus on charges of DUI, felony hit-and-run and other charges. At this time, the case remains under investigation. Although, anyone willing to help the Estrada family, a GoFundMe page has been listed online.
